MILITARY & CIVILIAN RANKS:
Attention on deck!
Attention on deck!
Military rank and promotions are by no means straight forward. Every country has their own rules and regulations, and to complicate things more, every branch of a country's military - army, navy, airforce - have their own differing guidelines. Long story short, you're head will explode if you try to figure it all out. Thankfully, we've simplified it for you.
Below is a table showing the average time it'd take your characters to be promoted. While these are based off the U.S. Air Force - except the warrant officer ranks, which are from the U.S. Army - we highly encourage characters from other countries and other services. By all means go and find out the specifics of your characters journey through the ranks of their chosen organisation, but this will suffice as a good guide. Take the year your character graduated boot-camp or their military academy, add the number of years from the 'Promotion' column, and you've got a good idea of their approximate age.
The NID maintains the further ranks of Assistant Director, Associate Director, Deputy Director and Director, while the IOA titles it's senior personnel as Conselor, Minister-Conselor, Career Minister and Career Ambassador. Each of these positions are respectively equivalent to 1-star through 4-star military ranks of general.
