EXPEDITION WEAPONS:
Bringing the hurt.
Bringing the hurt.
Below is a list of all weapon's maintained in the task force armory, including information and details of each weapons performance. Due to the expedition being located millions of light years from Earth to list is quite condensed, allowing for more ammunition, spare parts and cleaning kits to be stocked. When selecting weaponry, players should follow the three weapons 'rules':
- Knives, sidearms, SMGs, shotguns & LMGs - must be on the list
- Rifles & carbines - need to use the STANAG 4179 magazine type
- Sniper & marksman's weapons - ammunition and weapon supplied by it's operator
BAYONETS & COMBAT KNIVES
Designed to be used as a combat melee weapon, a survival and utility knife, a wire cutter and as a bayonet on M16/M4 rifles and M590 shotguns, the M9 bayonet is the standard issue expedition knife assigned to all personnel. Other preferred service knives can be carried in addition to the M9. |
HANDGUNS
Chambered with a 9mm round the M9 is the sidearm issued to civilian personnel and used by military operators when on non-combat missions. The weapon is extremely tough, reliable and durable. |
Firing a more powerful .45 round, the MK23 is designed with special forces personnel in mind and can bring down armored targets with greater ease than the M9, though this comes at the cost of increased weapon size, weight and recoil. |
RIFLES, CARBINES & SNIPER RIFLES
Due to the variety of nations providing personnel to the Task Force Ida a standard issue main battle rifle has not been set, instead personnel can use any weapon so long as it uses the NATO STANAG 4179 magazine type. Depending on the mission type, magazines can hold between 20 and 100 rounds, with many weapons being able to take the magazine off the shelf or after slight modification. Sniper rifles and designated marksmen weapons are left up to the choice of their operator, with the Task Force armory maintaining a variety of makes and models as well as caring for weapons brought in by trained snipers and designed marksmen. |
SUB-MACHINE GUNS
Having replaced the MP5 as the weapon of choice for off-world teams, the P90 offers its user a large 50 round magazine and considerable stopping power packed into a small and convenient frame. The weapons unique top loading mechanism can make it a challenge to use for those new to the weapon. |
Essentially an enlarge automatic machine pistol, the MP7's folding fore-grip and stock make it easy to conceal and ideal for covert operations. This weapon is often issued to civilians as an alternative to full size assault rifles and carbines. |
SHOTGUNS
When a door stands in way of an off-world team, this pump-action shotgun is deployed to allow operators to easily gain entry to rooms and buildings. While lengthy the weapon is a capable weapon for close quarters fighting. |
Being a semi-automatic shotgun, the M1014 excels when the fighting is up close and personnel. The weapon can fire its nine deadly 12 gauge rounds in quick succession although reloading can take considerable time. |
MACHINE GUNS
Classified as a 'light machine gun' this belt-fed weapon is capable of laying down a high volume of fire to provide covering or suppressive fire for teams when moving between cover. The weapon is large in size and has considerable weight, meaning only one is typically assigned to each off-world team, always in the hands of an experiences weapons operator. |
The M240 'medium machine gun' packs a bigger punch than the M249 at the cost of increased size and weight. These weapons are typically deployed in the field when heavy and extended amounts of enemy contact are expected. The weapon needs to be set up on a tripod to ensure accuracy when in combat. |
